Fiddles fear has about a 0.25 second delay

The easiest way to prove this is a problem is to use your Q immediately before a champion becomes un-targetable. Example:

  1. Fiora runs up to ulti
  2. Q Fiora (Fiddles animation goes off)
  3. Fiora ulti's
  4. Fiora is silenced WHILE ULTI'ing

Because her ulti still goes off she waits out the silence in utter safety and still does full damage during the fight, meanwhile Fiddle's fear goes on cooldown and is wasted.

This can also be seen with Fizz's Playful, Zhonya's hourglass, or something as simple as flash (fear someone immediately before they flash over a wall and they land on the other side of the wall fear'd). You do not need to have vision of them when the fear takes effect, only when you initially cast.

I have experienced this regardless of build or items at all points during the game. I don't believe it can be attributed to lag as, if I lagged, I would expect the enemy to not get silenced at all (as they were out of range when the ability "actually" went off).

I've also noticed that if Fiddle's becomes stunned, silenced, suppressed, or otherwise during this 0.25 second window his fear will go on cooldown but have no effect.

I'm not sure about the silence, but I have experienced the delay when using fear several times against several champions. It is very annoying when i am trying to cc someone like katarina, or akalai and they destroy my adc after I fear her because the game is buggy. Please someone look into this.

Would like to add that this also applies to giving champions a chance to auto-attack. Fiddle's fear has a range of 575. Vayne's auto-attack has a range of 550. Therefore if you click Vayne with fear from outside of it's active range, Vayne should be feared before she has a chance to attack. In my previous game a Vayne rolled at me and got off an auto-attack during this delay. The auto-attack happened to be the fourth hit needed to proc Braum's passive, so I got stunned and Vayne wasn't feared (although it still went on cooldown)

I'm not sure about the silence, but I have also experienced such a delay. It's very annoying when you try to cc someone like katarina or akali or the enemy adc, and they blow up your adc because the peel is bugged.

Unless I'm crazy, it's always been this way. It's a clunky mechanic in an otherwise great ability, not a bug.

Been playing Fiddles pretty religiously this season and I didn't notice this until around 4.15

His fear used to begin the moment his animation started, meaning he spent a good portion of this fear self-suppressed by his animation, but it successfully prevented Fiora ulti's and the like.

Also, to add to the list of multiple random mechanics that can turn a game due to his fear being delayed, Lee Sin can use his ulti on Fiddles THEN get feared, only after he has disrupted the entire team fight and killed Fid... Oh, wait - he killed Fid so he didn't get feared.

Riot needs to see this. This is huge, I had a fiddle use fear twice on fiora, but when he did she ulted first and was unable to fear her after her ult ended
