Losing lp after a win.

I was playing a ranked game and started to lag and even disconnected several times due to internet issues. I would return to the game as soon as possible every time and eventually went on to win the game. At the post game lobby it says I was a leaver and made me lose LP. I don't understand why I got punished for this. I'm guessing that after a certain time of being disconnected you are just designated as a leaver, but I feel like the game should recognize that I'm not leaving on purpose and returning as soon as I can. I already know riot can't give me my LP back, but I think this should be something looked into because this could lead to people getting disconnected and just not returning because they will lose LP anyways.
