I keep VODs and live games open in the background while im playing, yet I don't get any progress for the mission. I have had things on mute in the background for previous watch & earn missions but this one will not count my progress at all. Did they change it so you have to actually watch them or is it just a bug?
Definitely bugged for me. I've watched 30+ games and I still can't get my pengu icon. I'm about to streaming these matches entirely. I've been watching the summer split too NOT rift rivals.
Update, I tried to log out of Esports and log back in, still not working.
No I'm also suffering from the bug, even disabled my ad block and still not getting credit.

Seems like rift rivals aren't counting for anything.
