Skarner Ultimate not working on Fizz

Hello, I just played a game as Skarner and i tried to Ult a Fizz on two separate occasions in a game and it didn't work either time. He did not have Banshee's Veil or a Quicksilver Sash and his E cooldown was down (and he did not have a Morgana on his team). My ult made the animation but it looked as if it got spellshielded and nothing happened (except for my ult going on CD).
