Smite Bug- Unable to Cast Smite

I encountered a bug today where I was unable to smite jungle creeps. My smite was off cd, and after repeated button presses, I was unable to smite for the first 6 minutes or so of the game.

Only after re-binding the same key did it seem to work for a few minutes, but after that, it stopped working again.

I am sure this is not a hardware issue and I was able to type the button in game chat as well as this is a functioning keyboard. I also double checked my key-bindings and nothing was out of place.

Has anyone had a similar experience?
