Malzahar Ult and Udyr

Has anyone noticed that Malzahar's ult gets constantly Interrupted by Udyr's bear stance stun, regardless of the fact that Malzahar's Ult is an immediate suppression, preventing attacking?

I thought this was strange, considering the Udyr in question had no cleanse or anti-CC items on him that would stop a suppression, the auto attack bear stance was simply going on when it had no business doing so, seeing as suppression means NO auto attacking or action of any kind.

The bear stance stun, which should have been stopped due to the suppression, was going off DURING the immediate onset of the suppression, thus cancelling the Nether Grasp ult before even a quarter of its duration had passed, and nullifying the ult, making it completely useless against the Champion.

Malzahar - Nether Grasp, Suppressing Udyr

Udyr - Udyr in bear stance, suppressed, but somehow Bear Stance Stun still goes off, cancelling Malzahar Malz's Ult.

Conclusion:

Udyr (Bear Stance) Udyr Utterly Counters Malzahar. Malzahar Prepare to Cry.

Was this an intended mechanic? Or is this an unresolved bug?

Why ult him in melee range?

IIRC, CC doesn't prevent a character from completing actions which have already started. If Udyr was mid-autoattack animation when you ulted him, then I see no reason why it wouldn't complete.

You can see a similar behaviour with abilities that possess a long cast-time such as Ezreal's ultimate or Lux's ultimate.
