I cant upgrade a champion to lvl 7 with 3 tokens and 1 champion shard.

I've tried with 2 different champions and it still wont work. When I press the tokens and chose the option to upgrade to lvl 7 the token part loads, but the game doesn't realize I also have a shard so I cant upgrade my champions without using a lot of blue essence. Please help.
