ranked system bugged?

I just got done with my promos and i was demoted even though I won the series? the messages I get are confusing because if i lose a series it would say" you have been demoted to bronze 4", and i was in bronze 1? It generates some confusing messages. I see other people are having this problem as well. They are either promoted from a series won but then happen to be actually demoted, or they lose a series and the messaging system says they have been promoted.
