Maokai & Thunderlord's

As far as I can tell and I have tested this many times maokai's E sapling toss does not trigger Thunderlord's. With this being said I have seen morgana's W tormented soil trigger thunderlord's. With them both being AOE spells that also affect minions wouldnt they work the same? Thoughts?

really thunder lords has worked for me with maos E maybe its a bug right now
