If you have the Bloodthirster shield is up, empowered recall does not get stopped.

I was testing out Tryndamere on a bot game and i used his E to the raptors and started to empower recall, I noticed that i recalled to base successfully and that I had a shield up from bloodthirster.

I tried this out if i can recall anywhere so I recalled while taking creeps, jungle camps, enemy champions, enemy turrets. I was able to recall till I ran out of the bloodthirster sheild.

I had Sated Devourer , bloodthirster , BORK , Boots of attack speed , and sword of the occult

I would like to test if other sheilds worked out or other champions but this is all the information i can give.
