Can't add my friend for some reason.

I'm trying to add my GF who just made an account, but every time I search her name through the add friend option it says that the player does not exist, and when she tries to add me it says the same thing. She added my alt and it worked, but my alt cannot add her (guessing because we both have special character)

Her name: Melïssa

and you can already see my username.

I can invite her through "invite by the name" and we can play games that way, BUT if I try to add her or she tries to add me through clicking the little + icon above the banners it doesn't even send a request to each other. It will say req has been sent but neither of us actually receive it. IDK whats going on but i hope this is fixed soon.
