I'm pretty sure my account is bugged or this ranked system is straight up garbage.

I'm godsizeee, a diamond player on the brazilian server and I need Riot's attention or anyone that can come up with plausible explanation to why this is happening to me. I went on a 13 win streak and moved from D3 to D2. In D2, I played 4 games, 2 wins, 2 losses. On those 2 losses, I got demoted back to D3. That's right, 2 losses. After a THIRTEEN win streak. All of those games I was winning 10-13 LP and losing about the same amount. Problem 1: I'm getting clamped below D1. After I got demoted, I started losing 20-27 points. So I figured: 'Oh, well, at least the clamping is gone.' Then I won a game: 17 LP. Then I won another game: 15 LP. And another one: 13 LP. And I was like: 'wtf, this shit again?' But then I lost a game. And I lost 27 LP. Twenty seven. In one single game. That's problem 2 right there. I have never had a negative w/l ratio on ranked ever. I still don't. This also has never happened to me before. I always won more points than I lost, so I don't know what else it could be. Please, if you don't know what to comment to help me, upvote the post so it'll get seen. I tried getting in touch with the brazilian support and all I got for an answer was: "Keep playing, it'll fix itself out." I did do that. I've played over 30 games winning 10-13 LP and now I'm losing almost 30 points for a single game. I was really hoping to reach Master by the end of the season, but I'm not playing ranked again until I get an explanation. So please, help me get a red response. Thank you.

A direct quote from @RiotPwyff in patch 4.1 (http://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/news/game-updates/patch/patch-41-notes)

"Clamping will still be in effect at Diamond I (because Challenger should rep the best players, so it needs to be strict), but all other tiers will see regular LP gains from now on."

This case does not seem like regular lp gains; please look into this as it could be affecting more people.

I have a similar issue. after winning and winning and winning i moved up a tier, i then lost two games, won one game, lost a game, won one, and lost on and was demoted on the final loss. I gain about 14 LP per win no matter how many ive been winning in a row, and lose around 28. I hope this isn't intentional because it seems stupid that i need to win 2 to make up for a single loss :/

I'm pretty damn sure I saw something about how you're not supposed to be able to get demoted for a few matches after advancing to accommodate for the fact that people lose games.

The system is definitely not fine tuned or this is actually a recent bug in it. People need to stop using the whole low MMR BS theory. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever you should be demoted after getting 2 wins and 2 losses. I've seen this happen to a handful of streamers as well as my friend and I experiencing it personally.

I'm not sure if this is the same or not but I have been duo'ing with a friend recently I am gold 2 he is plat 4 when we started i was gold 3 and he was plat 5 and we have been winning quite a bit more than we have been losing. Neither of us have ever lost more than we gained until one night we started only getting around 13 all the way down to 9 for a win and 20 for a loss. Is it because we have a difference of around 200MMR? Even so I don't think we should be losing more than we gain as we aren't negative and wins and we haven't been losing as much as winning.

The same thing happened (past tense because i haven't played ranked in a while) to me on the NA server, except I am in mid-silver. When I got up to silver 3, i was on a 5 game win streak before my promos, beat my promos (winning 2 and losing 1) then played 3 games, winning the first, gaining 20 LP, then I lost and lost all of it after only ONE loss after winning 8 of my last 9 games... I lost the next game and got demoted. After only one loss at 0 LP and after winning 8 of 10 games, I got demoted. After that, I would gain around 19 LP per win and lose 20, even though I had a positive W/L throughout the whole process. I am now back in Silver 3, but I continued to lose just as much or more LP per game as i was gaining whenever I won. I STILL have a positive W/L, but am not gaining more than I lose (as of the last time I played ranked).

Well it seems like your mmr is higher than the average in the games you're being placed it. You had a 6 game lose streak where the mmr was the same as yours and then after those losses it plummeted.

Paigers10/23/2014, 8:23:17 PM2 votes

Something similar happened to me as well. Got promoted to Plat 4, won two games in that division, then lost two in a row and on the second loss I got demoted back to Plat 5. So frustrating. I'm so done with getting screwed over in ranked. Hope you can get a red response on yours.

Kbalz10/27/2014, 2:05:06 PM2 votes

happens in silver as well.. I lose 20-25, gain 13-22 I have to have a 65% win ratio to climb up effectively.. in SILVER !!!

FyreNinja10/23/2014, 3:55:58 AM2 votes

I assume that it is because your 13 game win streak raised your MMR above D2, and now the system is confused why you are losing games, but i don't know. I'm sorry man, it looks like you got a terrible deal.

I suggest talking to player support (although they're garbage) and seeing if you can fix it that way. Otherwise, I am glad to give you a bump.

Good Luck Sir (hope you make it to Challenger)

Lord Neptune10/23/2014, 5:18:52 AM2 votes

this happens to me quite a bit even though im still in bronze. I go on an 7 game win streak to barely claw my way into bronze 4 and i lose one game and im back to 50 points in bronze 5. I hope they fix it soon

TenSlashTen10/23/2014, 12:26:42 PM2 votes

whatever they told you about LP gains and not getting demoted is full of shit.

it will always be based off true MMR. Riot now hides MMR because they don't want to show you how hard you do actually have to grind.

to earn your elo.

you drop faster than you climb. End of discussion. Thank riots "Updated" system.

Axests10/23/2014, 3:12:11 PM2 votes

personally i've never been demoted from losing 2 winning 2 and i've never seen strange lp gains/losses like this. Btw if you win like 13 games in a row then lose 2 of course you're going to get clamped, riot does that with win streaks.

Teslyn10/23/2014, 4:13:02 PM2 votes

honestly think the MMR system is retarded, But if it helps anyone the idea is this. If you get beat by a really bad person you drop more then getting beat by really good people. Same thing goes in reverse beating bad people gives you lower points then beating good people. thing i dont understand is some people who let their accounts degrade either lazy or personal reasons or just forgetful.. besides the reason.. what happens to their MMR is my major question.

slippykitten10/23/2014, 5:10:40 PM2 votes

Riot shouldnt be using complex formulas to determine rankings. Everything they do, they need to do 12 more times to get right. They need to simplify their system. It should be a simple set amount gained for a win and set amount lost for a loss. Will you have teams that a slightly unmatched where one team should get more lp because they were at a disadvantage? yes (although ideally, this shouldnt actually happen, but thats another discussion) but it will even out. Sometimes teams will be harder, sometimes easier, but you should be able to know how much lp you can gain and how much you will lose.

People think this will make it more difficult to measure the skill of the best players in the world (which is kinda a dumb way to design a system - works for the top .1% but not for everyone else) but it would work. As the best players are matched against each other, one will lose and one will win, simple as that.

win/loss ratio should be the key. If you say that system doesnt work because matchmaking doesnt fairly match teams, then matchmaking is broken as well (which it is) and needs to be repaired. The system of getting screwed over where you have to win 3x as many games as you lose when youre already dependent on 4 other variables is unnecessarily frustrating.

I also like how riot wont answer the question because none of the know how truely fucked up thier entire system really is haha. And they got to much pride to fix their mistake so they just gonna ride it out and we the suffer for it.

Off topic observation: I find it amusing that people will use such vulgar language because they don't like a particular aspect of something. uwu < Not OP of course, I find them to be respectable along with others who commented. It's just the few that find it required to use such language that amuse me slightly due to them either having no sense of filter or being angered that easily by something.

Well...atm I am in Bronze 1 and had been dealing with this issue, (getting to Silver 5 winning two matches then immediately dropping to bronze 1. Recently I stopped caring about getting out of bronze and just trying to raise my MMR and it has been steadily increasing even if i lose the match. Try playing a few normal games before playing ranked solo, and in solo just play your best role and play for the team. Ward, be prepared to help with ganks on mid or jungle fights, and/or just beat the shit out of your enemy in lane. Generally coming out even in KDA or "feeding" but giving your team vision in the jungle will raise your MMR slightly. (since i started doing this mine jumped from 1040 to 1287) . I wish you speedsummoner 6 on your journey

Doesnt matter cause youre from brazilian servers. Enough said.

Creamy Seaman10/23/2014, 4:15:54 PM1 votes

The answer to this is quite simple. Your win rate is going above 50%. THIS IS A HUGE GAMEBREAKING PROBLEM. EVERYONE'S WINRATE CANNOT GO ABOVE 50% BUT IT SHOULD GO BELOW 50%. This is riot's logic. So they intentionally match you with 1-2 horrible players in one match to try and curve a loss towards your side. Once you lose a game. LOLking everyone on your team, and beg the worst people not to feed.
