Well, so I downloaded lol a week ago. I want to play with my friends and I see an update. And I am legitimatly scared of updates in lol. Its the only game where you see this. I just wanted to ask why.... Its bulls**t! No other game do this to just scan EVERYTHING. Why is this needed. It obviously isnt 'cuz anyother game doesnt have this. Just awnser please riot...

Most online games do this though. They just might not outright say it.
It's scanning all of it's files with the files that are being updated in the patch. It's entirely possible that you downloaded League a year ago and haven't touched it since. If all the patch did is download the most recent files for what is changed in that patch, the game would have major issues. It scans everything to make sure that all files are up to date.
There is no reason to be afraid of League patching, it's what happens in any online game.
