[CLIENT] Penalised for quitting during champion selection

I had accepted a match and then reached the champion selection screen where I wanted to choose my Champion. I was not able to confirm my choice. I got the message: "There was a problem selecting your champion please try again" I tried repeatedly to select only to get the same message till timeout. I then tried to start another game when I found that I was being penalized.
