Friend received free skin?

So one day, I was playing with my friend, and he decided to try out the champion Kayle who he had recently purchased. To both of our surprise though, he had the Riot Kayle skin available to use. He has not purchased any RP/skins since he started playing, he never received a gift notification, we were not playing ARAM, and he was not playing when Riot gave everyone a free skin for good behavior.

Ultimately this is nothing to really be upset over, but it is a bit confusing and has me a bit jealous :P Has anyone else experienced this?

Also something to check is Riot's good behavior gift from a while back, if you didn't meet certain conditions (have enough champs) I think Riot Kayle was one of the default give aways.

He didn't get a Riot Kayle code from an event and forget about it or something? Weird.

Have they checked their Gifting History to see if perhaps someone had given Riot Kayle to them previously?

Same thing happened to my friend. Never bought a skin, wasn't a high enough level for the free skin (or he didn't have enough champs, not sure which), and I'm his only friend in league so I know it wasn't gifted.

I believe the North Koreans may have a hand to play in this. If anyone is willing to help me stop them meet in New York city on the 5th of November on 23rd and 32nd street
