IN GAME FREEZING

**Update: 2018-08-05: The Workaround proposed by FrankieAndMe (see below; it's about stopping Nahimic.service) works admirably for me! Thank you very much, FrankieAndMe! This is awesome! [garen-swing] ** Note: It was only by FrankieAndMe's post that I became aware that there is such a service as Nahimic. I suppose it's pre-installed on all Alienware devices, as an improvement to Audio. Right now, however, it looks like Nahimic and LoL don't interact correctly. Don't know where the root cause is, but hopefully somebody will fix it...

Original post: When I play LoL, then after about 5 minutes, game starts freezing, multiple times, at increasing length, till the game is practically unusable. This happens in all LoL game sessions, independent of the intensity of action. Audio can be heard, the last sound effect being drawn to great length (still can recognize the kind of sound). Friends on Discord can be heard without issues. Before the first freeze, and in between freezes, gameplay is unaffected, with over 100 fps. During freezes, mouse can still be moved. When game is frozen, I can't reliably tab out of LoL. Even if I manage to tab out of LoL, then if I tab back in, I get a black screen and can't even call up Windows Task Manager with ctrl-alt-del any more. In that situation, the only remedy is a long press of the power button to forcibly shut down the computer.

Other games, like Fortnite at Epic settings, can be played without any issues. The freezes are particular to LoL only.

Uninstalling and re-installing LoL (multiple times) didn't help. Hextech repair didn't help. Installing the latest NVIDIA driver didn't help. Nothing helps, it's totally frustrating.

Got a brand new Alienware 15 R4, i7-8750H, NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1070, running on Windows 10 (all updates having been run by Windows Update).

Please help sorting this out. As I can see, other players are having the exact same kind of problem. This bug kills all the joy of playing LoL.

For a temporary fix, restart your game at 7 minutes in and reconnect. It stops freezing, but you have to do this every game until it's fixed.

Same problem here. Have submitted a ticket with a DMP file attached (as was advised in a previous post on this subject), will see what happens.

Boy, even though this was six months ago, I'm glad I found something on this, I too have done everything to fix it, even clicked on this link and tried the nahimic thing. I've messaged riot about it, and have done hextech repair, and have sent them my lol files. :/

I'm sad there hasn't been a solid solution, maybe I'll try this 7min in game and exiting trick.

I have exactly the same problem with my new MSI GS65:

*GeForce 1060

*i7-8750H

*16GB RAM

*LoL installed on SSD

Temperature of CPU is max 76°C and GPU 60°C. Installed the newest nVidia drivers 398.82 WHQL

Game runs OK for the first few minutes of the game, then starts to freeze - first freeze is 1 second long, the next ones longer and longer. Restarting the game resets the problem. Running in borderless / windowed mode seems to make the freezes shorter.
