Every other game im playing, usually totally randomly, my game freezes, my keyboard and mouse become unresponsive, and i have to hard reset my machine to get it back. no amount of time waiting does it recover. This only happens when im playing league of legends
A few weeks ago I was having this exact same problem. Every single game I would spawn in and my computer would just freeze and I would have to restart it and try and join back before a remake. The solution I found was playing in windowed mode. It's annoying at first, but you get used to it. So try that and see if it works.
This has started up for me around patch 8.16. I have tried to reinstall league but nothing is fixing it.
6 months ago, and riot still hasn't fixed this bug. It seems the longer league goes on the less riot actually cares about the game and community. I'm having the same problem on a new machine that runs everything on ultra graphics, including vr games. However this game crashes mid game like every other game...
This has been happening to me all week and I've been getting so salty. I've been getting reported and I've been getting slammed with leaver buster. I get into the game fine and play maybe 10-12 mins then it freezes and LoL becomes unresponsive. So I have to hard reset my PC as well.
Yeah, this crashing and freezing behavior has been happening to me since patch 9.0, but it's been getting worse. It's not the only issue. I know many here have spent days on this feature and tried countless possible solutions, none from Rito other than the usual boilerplate. We're stuck here trying to do grass roots product testing without any technical documentation. Pisses me off. Just when I think I have the answer, the problem rears it's ugly head again. Just in here to get in on the class-action against the vulture capitalists who will buy Rito at fire sale prices when they jump the shark for good. On a side note: Leaverbuster is still broken AI. it should at least communicate with bugsplat or check the error logs to determine that a game crash does not equate to AFK behavior. Has anybody from Rito commented here yet? Since they employ systems engineers and windows specialists, perhaps they could pass along a tip, whether it's LoL's bug fault or not. Don't be stingy with the knowledge.

This has been happening to me too. Started a few days ago. I hope this is fixed soon.
I am having the exact same issue. I did discover that if I have the Task Manager open on a second monitor, I can get over to that when the LoL Client freezes and end that program, then League will ask if I want to Reconnect. That at least is faster than restarting my whole system.
Still, I have logged this issue with Riot and spend hours trying to fix it. Emailed back and forth with support for weeks during which they made it seem like I was the only one having the problem.
I too am having this problem. Mine started after the most recent big patch. And it usually happens about every other or every 2 games. I have to Ctrl alt del, sign out, log back in and re-launch the game. It’s faster than restarting the computer
I still have this, idk what to do about it. everything like music goes on but my league just freeze and need to restart whole pc to fix this.
I have literally done everything I could to fix this problem and it's still happening to this day... Will Riot EVER fix this issue? It's getting really, really annoying. I'm honestly so sick of it. I have done every single thing that Mods have posted in the forums and nothing helped. Ridiculous.
Please Riot, find a real solution to these stupid crashes that completely freeze our computers. Oh and plz don't tell me to check my connection cause I've already done so countless times... PLEASE FIX THIS ALREADY RIOT, THIS GAME IS UNPLAYABLE WITH THESE MID GAME FREEZES!!!!! ><
I've had similar issues, but it wasn't League. Or rather, wasn't specifically League.
It actually loves mostly crashing whenever I'm playing Starbound, Warframe or Terraria.
League is somehow less likely to murder my CPU? Seriously now?
I have windows 7, a custom gaming machine, and ive been playing league of legends for years. So this isnt like im new and dont know what im doing. please help it super irritating
I got this twice in one week for some reason. I had no idea if it had to do with the client but it might be. My pc would just freeze mid game and I have to restart my computer. Freezing only occurred when playing League for me as well so I'm guessing it is League
This has also been happening to me, it just started recently after the latest patch. So far it's happened twice. Its very annoying.
I am bumping this thread because, this issue is STILL rampant. This has been happening to me for at least 2 months now, and I have tried everything. Just last night I had to factory restore my PC due to this bug, then I play other games all day long and I don't get so much as a hiccup, but as SOON as I log into League, my entire machine seizes up and then I get the classic BSOD ":( Oops..."
This has made it nearly impossible to play my favorite game. 
I'd at least like to know Riot is aware of this issue, its affecting a lot of people.
I'm not sure if this will help, (because if your computer is completely frozen and your keyboard and mouse are unresponsive, then i seem to have gotten this damn bug easy) but if your game freezes like that, you may not be able to do anything, but i figured out that you cant CTRL + ALT + DEL and sign out (windows obviously). It isn't a fix, but it is certainly better than waiting 10 minutes for your computer to restart.

Yes this is a problem i am having as well about 3-15 minutes into the game the client freezes my pc and i have to hard restart this ONLY happens with LEAGUE its is not a problem with my pc for it never happens with ANY OTHER game and coincidentally it is always in the middle of a ranked match i am extremely frustrated as others are getting stuck with leaver buster penalties when it isnt even our fault. and fix death recap shit hasnt made sense since it was implemented. also would like to specifie its only ranked and only 5v5 summoners rift. its has never happend in any other game mode.
Guys i have the fcking same problem because every day i have this leaver buster and i get ban for nothing just because of a peoblem that is not mine cause i changed my pc and bought one with high performance but still having the same problem since the big patch so i wonder if riot make sure to find a way and fix this crash in the middle of the game because we are getting ban for it without being the real responsable
one of my friends (Jajang2632) had this happen to them, thought it was just their rig, but happened to me later on, hopefully it was a 1time issue.

I had this issue,i downloaded some software for league and it fixed it,then i reinstalled league and it returns,i dont remember the software tho
I am experiencing the same thing and the repair tool does not help. Either the game freezes upon trying to load from the lobby or it freezes in game. Task manager populates, but I cannot alt+tab to anything. Now all I can do is ctr+alt+del and sign out and sign back in. Thankfully I finally figured out this works after many hard resets. This is the only game on the computer I have any issues with. This has been at least 5 months now and I have had to come back from many negative reports and "low priority queue" which isn't even a queue, just a long wait before actually queuing you. What gives Riot? How have you not addressed this?
My problem is somewhat the same. My game keeps crashing randomly, it doesn't freeze my machine, but it does say something about some kind of screen enhance/stream overlay or whatever. I don't know the reasoning to the problem, I do not own any screen recording or enhancement program. Any fixes, please let me know :D*[slayer-jinx-unamused]*
I have used the repair tool multiple times, uninstalled/reinstalled multiple times, rebuilt my computer assuming this was my issue and still I have the exact same issue. I wish I had looked into all these forums, LoL and others, before putting money into my computer needlessly. Just think, if LoL had solved this problem I would have had more money to spend on skins...I do that a lot, but won't if I can't play obv...
Had the same issue not long ago,managed to somehow fix and it hasn't happened today(even tho I was playing for over half of the day ) Tho,I had lag spikes,frequent disconnects and freezing issue.
STEPS
Delete/Uninstall all programs you aren't using,but might pop up during your game (anti-virus programs which can be put on silent mode or disabled briefly).

I have NVIDIA Control Panel set it to full Performance .(Don't know how much it helps,since I nearly always close this program )
Open the Client and Launch a full repair
After all that,you should scan your computer for Viruses or any other activity which may harm,before you log in make sure that Close client when playing-box is ticked and Low spec mode enabled. If you're playing on wire-less,try if all the cables your rooter are properly plugged in. Lastly(if possible) a laptop cooling pad can do wonders.
I'm not an expert,but I went through these steps and it seems the issue has been resolved. Hope it helps anyone. Good luck
1 year later and the problem is getting worse and worse. Luckily I'm able to shut my computer down via task manager but that's my only option and I've been reported for the multiple freezes and such. Kinda makes you not want to play the game or give them anymore money...
Got the same problem right now, it's been happening every game for about a week then got fixed for about 2 days, but then again and until now i got randow freezes around mid game, maybe 15 to 25 minutes into the game. only way to get league to work again is to reboot my PC. I first sent 2 bug report but yet after 3 weeks i got nothing back from rito, only a deep and helpless silence. At this point i tried everything from simple reboot to uninstall and repair yet nothing. 
i still keep trying every possible way to fix it, and going to update if anything seems to fix it.

A year after this was posted and I'm still crashing mid-game for no reason. I have to shutdown league and log back in again, and when the game is loading in, it crashes sometimes aswell and then I have to do it all over again until it doesn't crash while loading. Record for crashes in 1 game is 5.
Happens to me as well and because of it II get put in low priority. It just freezes and I can't do anything about it.
I'm not sure if people still have this problem, but I found a solution that does not fix the problem but just works around it, and it is pretty easy and works for me. You just play on Windowed mode and make sure you run the program as admin, and adjust your graphic setting accordingly. Personally, I have not crashed one time since I have tried this method, whereas I used to crash multiple times a game due to this unknown bug. If this does not work for you, then I have no other options that comes to mind. Thanks~
Years after, and I am having the same exact issue and even riot support won't help me with it. Unbelievable.
The only thing that fixed mine was removing Avast Anti-Virus and replacing it with AVG. No problems since, posting for others

After 3 months of freezing, removing antivirus did the trick. Happened 3 years ago too with another AV. It's the only thing left to play with besides reinstalling Windows
|I also had this happen, mid game in ranked I lose 4 games thanks to bug. the entire PC freezes.
Same problem for me to just freezes PC have to hard reset . Seems like I’m being made out to have the problem when they need to fix the game ....
