RIOT - Please give Mac users an update on the patch 5.14 crash bug

BeatySwallows·7/23/2015, 8:01:09 PM·56 votes·12,686 views

For 2 days now myself and most other mac users have been unable to play any normal, draft, team builder games.

Can you please provide a sticky update on the bug and what expectations we, as paying users, can have for when the bug will be fixed.

I am an IT project manager at a large corporation and programmer for 20 years and know that you will have some ideas of the causes and have probably replicated it by now. Can you please give us some idea when we can expect an update from you?

If you are not expecting, in all reality, to have any kind of patch until 2 weeks time, at least tell us that. Then we can get on with our lives for 2 weeks and come back with the anticipation that it may be addressed.

If not, we are just waiting, in the dark, for who knows how long??

Thanks An impatient (maybe your oldest?) league player (41)

[UPDATE] Looks like they have now patched it as when i logged in, very small patch occurred and i have played a bot and real team builder game and it hasn't crashed and the red transparent background has gone.

However, nice of them to give us some kind of communication.

RIOT Games = Very Poor Communication

+1 I just want to get an official estimate to stop waiting on the forums like a drug addict.

EDIT : Riot dArtagnan said "Since discovering the issues with the Mac crashes, we have been working non-stop to get a solution. We believe we have one, and are looking to hotfix this within the next 24 hours. I'll update this post once we push it out!"

Signed

Also, how can they NOT have an alert up for this?

Hey y'all,

I complete understand your frustration with the situation, and I can only apologize that you've had such a poor experience with the game recently and that our communication about the issue/our investigation hasn't been sufficient. We've been working hard to get this resolved and we believe that we've got a fix now for both the red textures in the shop and the game crashes out live on all regions; if you're still seeing this problem please let me know and we'll continue to look into what's the issue.

SO DISAPPOINTED WITH RIOT. Did you even check this patch?! What the hell?

I've been playing this game for 3 1/2 years now and I can easily say that it's very possible that even if the fix is high up in the priority list (I doubt it is because it's easier to shaft the mac client compared to things that the majority of users are missing, despite the fact that choosing to support a Mac client deserves responsibility on their end imo) they're not going to talk about it until it's already done. They've made the mistake of running their mouths off on stuff such as a permanent 1v1 map years and years ago and they got a ton of flak for not following through with it. So in reality it's just easier to act like nothing's happened until it's 100% concrete that it's going to be finished soon enough. The way this is being handled makes me sad because honestly I've spent too much money for a service that I can't say will be up for me to use at least a week after patches occasionally because one of the largest games in the world can't test patches adequately on an OS they promised to support.

I really just can't wait until I get hired out of unemployment so I can get a desktop PC and finally avoid this kind of bs once and for all because honestly it's happened too much over the years because of the priority they put on testing Mac on the patch Q/A. I'm honestly surprised this wasn't caught in PBE though.

I'm just hungry to play this new patch like the rest of you guys Chogath . I hate watching the event progress and worrying about whether I'm going to miss the rewards or not. DoTA2 never gave me problems like this back when I played it.

Yes please remove all leaverbuster actions. I'm in the lower queue now, and past experience has told me it takes forever before you get back to the point where an occasional network crash doesnt put you back in purgatory.

I guess I must be the exception to the rule, but I have had no issues with league whatsoever. I'm on 10.8.5 with a 2.9GHz Intel Core i7.

I've been playing this game on my macbook pro for around a year. I finally got the money to build a desktop pc and haven't regretted it. I just updated OS X to El Capitan and have had multiple issues on the client. Everything from the launcher not launching to the game not launching after champ select, to disconnects in game when I can actually get into it. It's disappointing that I'm having these issues because my girlfriend actually wants to learn the game and this was the computer she was going to learn it on. After sending in a support ticket, I got the basic, "Hey, it's your network settings. Here's how to fix it." (obviously paraphrasing), all to no avail. Fix your game Riot... Seriously. I know the majority of your users play on Windows, but I don't have the money to throw $300 at a windows key to dual boot this computer, especially for a free-to-play game that my girlfriend probably won't stick with.

Edit: This has happened for every patch since re-downloading the game. I think it started with 5.22?

This is embarrassing. How can they not have a fix by now? Not only that, but they haven't even given us any information in regards to the crashing issue. Riot get your shit together..

Are the Act 1 rewards unavailable now because we have moved on to Act 2? If so, I'm going to be so disappointed in Riot.

I haven't ran into this problem yet. My Specs are down below if that helps.

I'd recommend applying for the PBE and using it whenever bugs/crashes like this start happening. PBE has pretty long it times tho, new featured gamemode can take from 4:30 to 24:00 to find a match.

I’m probably going to end up missing this event because of this, very disappointing.

I still sadly have a 20 minute que ban timer from the first game I played 2 days ago when the patch first came out...

Ivan Tsary7/25/2015, 12:47:41 AM1 votes

WOW.... 20 minute leverbuster. That has to be a record... and I didn't even get to play for 3 days.

The patch to fix this? Oh yeah, instead of fixing the bug, which i didn't have thankfully, it instead broke my game.item 3070 Fizz

I get this problem on Windows 8, and it still hasn't been fixed. Not only can I not play a game, the client crashes my whole PC when I log in. And info on that?
