Yasuo Windwall

Why does Yasuo's windwall come from behind him? He clearly swipes in front of him to create the wall. I am bringing this up because in the game I am currently playing, I threw a shuriken as Zed and Yasuo blocked the shuriken with his wind wall even though the windwall went in front of him and the shuriken was behind him.
