SOLUTION: Progressive FPS Stutter/Lag Starting @ 7-10 Minutes Until Game Is Fully Frozen

For Players:

Alright, so I've had this issue since Patch 8.15 got deployed and had it once before in Patch 8.12 or something. I've been playing around with a ton of drivers and bios updates and nothing worked until I finally got some clues from other players on what might be going on. It is a rather quick fix at the cost of some sound quality. Here is what you want to do:

  1. Open up Task Manager using Alt-Ctrl-Dlt or whatever other method.
  2. Click on the Processes tab.
  3. Scroll down until you see "Nahimic Services", "Nahimic32", and "Nahimic64". *Not exact characters, just look in general for those.
  4. Right-click each one and click "End Task".
  5. This will close Nahimic which is the program for that amazing Sound you get. With it closed, LoL runs completely fine on Patch 8.15.

For Riot:

MSI users need Nahimic because it is a crucial program since it delivers the core sound quality that we need to make games and videos more enjoyable. With the program terminated, we are limited to listening to some low quality sound. Since you know the issue now, please take some time and work with MSI or Nahimic and find the fix to this issue. I want to be able to play LoL with Nahimic on. That is one of the reasons I bought this laptop in the first place. Thanks.

UPDATE 1:

Ok, for anyone who does not have Nahimic running, the problem lies somewhere else. Do the following:

  1. Open up Task Manager using Alt-Ctrl-Dlt.
  2. Click on the Processes tab.
  3. Try and locate anything that looks like "MSI Afterburner" or "RivaTuner Statistics".
  4. Close any of those tasks using "End Task".
  5. Run LoL again to see if it works.

UPDATE 2:

Ok, this is for anyone using AMD as their CPU. Do the following:

  1. Click on the Windows Search Bar.
  2. Type "Device Manager" and open it up.
  3. Expand the "Firmware" option.
  4. Right-click "Bios" and then click "Update Driver".
  5. Restart your computer.
  6. Run LoL again to see if it works.

I get the stutter but I do not see "Nahimic Services", "Nahimic32", and "Nahimic64" or anything on my task manager.

Doesn't do anything, but still thanks for trying. You did more than this horrible dev team so far.

Thanks, it worked for me! To make sure Nahimic won't start again I disabled it in Windows Services (msc) too.

I'm having the same issue. Also MSI mobo. I haven't noticed any stuttering before 8.15 but after the patch, non-stop stuttering and lockup as described by op.

And I just upgraded my PC with new mobo and cpu :( The fix seems to be working...

Please fix this asap!

Doet it work if you have intel as cpu and intel hd graphics?

I could not find anything in task manager along the lines of "nahimic". I tried to find "MSI afterburner" and "RivaTuner Statistics". I have a Lenovo laptop with an intel CPU. Anyone know how I can fix the random freezes? It's really annoying and needs to be fixed

So! I have found a way to bypass this without doing anything! Im not sure if it works for everyone, but it worked for me! I went in the Task Manager and saw that LoL was running as a background-process but its closed, I ended the task and restarted the game. And it worked! I hope it works for you guys, isnt guaruanteed tho, worth a try tho!

Well, I did send a support ticket seeing that the same problem occurs to me as well, and they responded with the conclusion that it was the PC's fault...SucksYasuo

anyone know an other solution when? i play i don't have nahimic active but i found out that my razer headset starts using a ton of the cpu and that it has nahimic integrated in its files but i can't delete those and removing the headset would remove the fun of playing lol with friends

Hey i was having this issue too. I have an nvidia graphics card and an intel processor. None of the fixes in this thread worked for me but i found one for myself. Same thing mostly as others but instead of it being nahimic it was some old Razor Kracken software from headphones i used years ago. After closing every process with a name similar to this the game stopped dropping frames

I have this same issue , and I see that most of these posts are from 3 months ago, but I have tried every fix suggested in every one of these posts, including riots troubleshooting page, nothing works. Submitted a ticket to riot, took a week to get 1 email and all the guy suggested was the same things I had already done from the trouble shooting page -.- I just want to be able to play, and it's not really possible when fps drops to 4 and then you freeze :(

I can't find Firmware option in device manager, where is it?

OptmL3/3/2019, 2:20:34 AM1 votes

For me, I don't use MSI and I can't track what is making my CPU spike because my CPU DOESNT spike when I get these sudden frame drops. For some reason, my CPU usage drops to 0 when i get these fps drops. Before i screwed things up, the fps drops corresponded with my disk usage. I fixed this problem 3 weeks ago by doing something that prevents my disk usage to consistently stay at 100. But, as soon as I did an SFC scan to fix other issues on my PC, the dreaded fps drops just started coming back. Frankly, I'm quite annoyed.Brand
