[Gameplay] Why Elise's Rappel Sometimes Won't Cast
Anyone who has played Elise much has likely experienced that moment where you know you pressed E to Rappel, but it didn't seem to go off until you hit it 4 or 5 times.
Yesterday I got tired of this happening and decided to go into a custom to try figuring out exactly what I was doing to cause Rappel to not cast. It turns out that Elise will always walk into range to cast Rappel, even if there is no target to Rappel to. So, unless your mouse is within the circle, Elise will not cast Rappel immediately.
Also, for anyone who is using indicators, the actual cast range is noticeably shorter than the indicated range.
So currently, if your mouse is inside of your cast circle (regardless of if you're targeting anything or not) Elise will instantly Rappel. If your mouse is outside of your cast circle (again, regardless of if you're targeting anything) Elise will not instantly rappel, and will instead walk into range to cast it.
The way Rappel should work is that any time there is no target selected, you use the ability (Elise shouldn't walk into range to target the ground). If you target someone within the cast circle, you descend upon them immediately. If you target a unit outside of the cast circle, you walk into range to cast it.
Hopefully Riot fixes this, but if they don't the only way to reliably use her Rappel is to self-cast it.
