[GAMEPLAY] No Assist for a jungler using Challenging Smite
To reproduce:
Step 1. Jungler buys Skirmisher's Sabre
Step 2. Jungler (J) and his ally (A) go together to find a low-health enemy champion (X)
Step 3. J smites X but J does no other damage to X (no basic attacks or ability use)
Step 4. A attacks X and kills X, within 1 second after Step 3.
Result:
A receives a kill for killing X. But: J receives no assist, even though he smited X.
Analysis:
I think it's because no actual damage from Challenging Smite procced during that first 1 second after using Smite.
This is unfair to J. J has used up his Smite cooldown, and has de-buffed the enemy champion X. For example J has helped his ally by granting vision of the enemy champion X. Also the enemy champion maybe knows he will die after being red smited, from the damage over time effect.
Possible fixes:
- hard code an assist for the smiter if a champion dies while de-buffed from Challenging Smite
- Challenging Smite can do 1 hp, or maybe even less like 0.5 hp, as initial damage when first used
- spread out the damage over time from Challenging Smite into more, smaller, ticks so that the jungler gets an assist even if the target lives for less than 1 second
