Game Client failed to transition into Champion Select

The client failed to transition into the Champion Select after accepting the match that was found. I could still hear the timer ticking down and everyone locking in their bans, but I was staring at my summoner profile (I always check my LP after matches), unable to enter the Champion Select while everyone in the lobby was choosing their bans. I could browse the other tabs like Collection, Profile, Home, and the friends list on the right side had the small text box saying how it had found a match but it couldn't be closed when I clicked the small X button. *EDIT - This bug is random and doesn't happen all the time, it just happens to some of my friends from time to time and this was the first time that it ever happened to me.

1 - While in the lobby waiting for a match to be found I was playing another game in fullscreen, OSU, which I always play every time before I start a match. 2 - I heard the loud "game found" warning and alt+tabbed out of OSU, clicked the Accept button. 3 - After accepting the match I was still in my summoner's profile and the game client did not transition into the Champion Select. 4 - Sounds of other players locking in their respective bans were coming through, but I wasn't in the champion select and I was only capable of interacting with the profile, collections and home, was unable to lock in any bans or champions since the game did not transition into the champion select. 5 - I closed the game client since there was nothing I could do. Reopened it and got a punishment for dodging, even though it was not my fault.

This bug has happened to my friends before where they are playing other games (not OSU) in fullscreen and when they alt+tab out and accept the match, they can't transition into the champion select and we have to wait for his punishment to be over so that we can start a match. This bug has only happened to my friends who had low-end computers, mine's not that great either but this bug never happened to me until today. This has never bothered us before since we only play Normals together.

But now it happened to me in a ranked match and this unjustly undeserved punishment was stacked on top of the prevous punishment I had for dodging (I went to the kitchen and came back too late, didn't ban a champ) and then I was subtracted 10 LP and a 30 minute block from matchmaking.
