LoL files takes huge space on harddisk while patching (Long Post)

Hi, first of all, let me say this that this gonna be a long post. I'm a player in EUW and after discussions over 2 week with EUW support team, they sent me here to report this. Also let me clarify that I sent this problem to dev teams 2 times but didnt got any feedback, eventough not sure if I supposed to. Also, I can provide those chat logs with support team I had if needed. Anyway let me begin.

I realized this problem like 2 months ago when a sudden 002 error code happened while patching the client. As you know this error code says "not enough disck space". First, I thought that maybe I had not enough space for updating and didn't do anything but then this issue keep continued and I started to invastigate it. I have 120GB SSD in my computer. While patching I checked how many space left on my disk and it was around 10GB and I got 002 error code. Let me quote from my first ticket "I have 120gb SSD in my computer and biggest 2 files(apps) are LoL and CS:GO. Today, before the update, I checked my harddisk for how many free space left and it was saying 8.2GB. Then I let LoL client to patch new update (8.19) and it says "not enough free disk space, please be sure that you have atleast 8GB free space." First question is, is this update really takes more than 8GB? Second question, when are you gonna write sizes of the updates while sharing them on the website and finally, third question is, what am I supposed to do now? There is only 2 games that I'm playing, so I wont delete CSGO, and there is nothing to delete in my computer." So after I sent this message, a support said that update was around 150MB. So, 8GB space was not enough for 150MB sized update. Then, like 15minutes later I sent another message. "so after making 2gb more space the patching will be done i thought. Then I got same error (002) at 100% and client made me to force to close it. And now i have 128MB free space. I thing somethings really messes the patching. I dont know if the client downloads extra things to download current patch or i really dont have any idea about what's happening but lol client either downloads very huge files or something is wrong. Because I had 8gb before the update, then I got "no space" error, I managed to get 2gb more space which makes 10gb in total, and I still cant update the client. I'm gonna delete whole game now and gonna reinstall and probably i'm gonna get 10gb space when it's done. I dont know what but somethings really broken with patching. Maybe you guys didnt realize this before because your computers had big amount of space but looks like there is a problem. So i'm not gonna be able to afford a better SSD thx to turkish currency, so I hope you guys will be able to fix this asap." As you see this problem really takes huge spaces and I wrote another long message (unfortunatelly) and took screenshots.

September 26th 2018, 4:43:08 pm Okay so far, I'm updating the game, patch isat around 60% and my harddisk space went to 6GB free space and then it rose back to 10GB space around 80%. So, I think now I'm pretty sure that the problem belongs to Riot, patching system. It uses extra/a lot of space while patching and that causes errors. Because today I had around 8gb free space for a 150mb update, and it failed, then i created more 2gb space, failed again. Now I uninstalled and reinstalled it. Now I have 3GB space which much less than I had before patching 8.19. So this proved that nothing is wrong with me but it's wrong with patching system. Therefore, from now on until you guys find out a new solution to this, I have to uninstall and reinstall everytime when a patch comes. On the other hand, as you see above from the previous chat that I had with *****(support guy, not sure if it will be okay to share his name), my Riot Games file's size was about 14GB, now it's size is 10GB. So before installing the game I had 19GB space but after the installation i have 2GB space but Riot Games file now takes 4gb less space? There are really weird things happening. Anyway, I'm not sure if those screenshots will be usefull but i'm uploading them to here. My pc's language is Turkish but understanding what is what wont be difficult cause i'm only showing spaces and sizes.

*File 1 and file 2 shows after the uninstallation of LoL. I had 19.5gb when uninstallation was done. *File 3 and file 4 shows downloading the client and last space after client download done which is 15.8GB. In background you can see LoL patching is starting. *In file 6, you can see that around 80% i have 10gb space but i was having 5gb space around 60%, didnt forgot to took screenshot of it. *In file 7 and file 9, you can see the last process. Went from 7gb to 2gb. *In file 10 you can see that Riot Games current size is 10GB.

I know this issue took so long, and maybe very hard to read all of these things but I'm trying my best to help you guys fix this out. Thank you for your patience. Have a good day Best wishes "

Another patch: September 28th 2018, 2:34:45 pm Hi, my client just did a patch. My SSD size went from 7.1GB to 5.2GB and I assume this patch was not around 2GB size. And latest update:

October 10th 2018, 4:43:39 pm First of all, I want to thank all of you support team and dev team. I tried to explain my problem many times. I contacted support team more than 5 times and dev team 2 times. I sent eveything with explanations and screenshots. How problem keep happening, how everything happens everytime no matter what I tried. I expected just a simple answer about if problem is belongs to Riot or to me. I wasn't even expecting a solution to be honest. I just wanted to know that you guys were working on it. Just a simple notification or just a simple thing that "the problem belongs to your computer/harddisk etc". Right now, I just don't know what to do. All I know is I have to uninstall and re-install the game everytime an update happens(worst case scenario: every week, best case scenario: every 2 week).

Today, I turned my computer on, watched World's Game and decided to play an ARAM while waiting for other match and then I realized that there is an update. This time I didn't want to take a lot of screenshots because I know this time enough is enough. I decided to go for it, with a little hope, and it failed. Anyways, I don't want to write another essay-like description. Here are the my previous ticket numbers in case you want to check them to see what's happening. Unfortunately I can't show/write any number or proof about tickets that I sent to dev team because all thing I got after a dev team report is, just a thank you message. I don't know if support team also allowed to do it but I'll be appreciated if you re-send this ticket to dev team. Thank you anyway. Ticket numbers are:

TICKET

Anyways, I promise that I'm not going to send any tickets about this problem anymore. I'll send a ticket if something else happens but not about this problem anymore. It's a fact that, probably noone gonna invest his/her time on it or care about it. Thank you for all your efforts and spending your times. I really appreciate that. Apologies for my grammar/spelling mistakes, i'm not native English speaker."

As you guys see, I'm having this problem very long time and only solution I found is uninstall and reinstall the game everytime a patch happens. I really am sorry for sending very very long message here but I just want to be clear as much as I want. Lastly, apologies for my grammar/spelling mistakes.

Best wishes.

Well looks like either no one saw this post including Riot team or this problem only happens to me

Happened to me too, you are not alone!

But I don't have any solutions either.
