After signing into League of Legends, my computer freezes

mrLSDman·3/15/2015, 4:32:43 PM·16 votes·25,588 views

Everytime I open it, I get to the main screen after login and it freezes right after I log into my account. I can't move my cursor, I have to restart my computer. I have done this 3 times now and it freezes everytime. This hasn't ever happened before, but it started happening now. (I have played it since the new patch, but today it just started doing it.)

i'm on windows 7 and it freezes for like a full minute after i log in, then it's fine. the homepage screen is all black with the tab pages but then if i log out then try to log back in, it does the same thing. I already uninstalled and reinstalled the client and it did not help.

In case anyone was wondering, I fixed mine by just leaving it sit. After a little bit it unfroze and so far I haven't had that problem again since letting it unfreeze.

I am going to try to explain the way I see it: Computer freezes at the launch of league of legends to check some important data etc. While it freezes, let it freeze. It will stop being jammed. It only reads data, which happens to me most of times. However, sometimes I am lucky enough to not encounter this problem. There is a little actual problem for me, which is the news lack. What do I mean? Once my computer unfreezes all the news have just black pictures and only titles ex: Watch MSI Today! And without freezing it shows everything perfectly

This is happening to me too :) after I patched to 5.5 and logged in it froze my whole computer for 10 seconds and then it logged into the game... same thing happened today. It just happens the first time I log in after a computer shutdown. Also images don't appear in the client after freeze.

I am on Windows 7 so I think it is a client problem

Same thing happens to me (as well as league client never popping up after a game forcing me to restart. I just wait a few minutes and everything unfreezes.

It happened to me as well. I decided to wait, and after about 1-2 minutes it worked just fine (at least for me). The client said something like "Error detected, data is sent to Riot". Then I proceeded to play normally.

Has anyone tried uninstalling the last windows 8 update to stop the freezing?

ZeckeKlette3/16/2015, 1:02:53 PM1 votes

Same problem here with WIn 7 64. The PC completes freezes for a couple of seconds. Hey, Sycogonewako, I've read that reinstalling the Windows patches of the last few days as well as the LOL client afterwards fixed this for a couple of people. I'll try that, too.

mine just worked but every single icon except the champion icon was black. i couldnt even see my own spells. come on riot..

I did a system restore as a temporary fix, but the windows update is forced again Didn't stay frozen as long as last time but now all icons remain black

GUYS I FOUND OUT HOW TO FIX IT I THINK. all you hafta do is go into the place where you installed league, should be riot games folder, find the league.launcher, then use that instead of the one it places on your desktop/start menu. it lets it load instantly and prevents the black screen overlay as well

Right click your league of legends .exe

properties compatibility hen you need to tick ' Run this computer in compatibility for: ' and choose whatever operating system you have.

This is how i stopped my computer freezing after login.

Same thing has started happening to me to since yesterday morning. I'm using windows 8.1 and installed the latest update the night before I started experiencing this issue. Might be an issue with the latest update?

Thank god im not the only one this is happening too. After my computer updated to 8.1 league makes my whole computer freeze

DexterousFlip3/15/2015, 9:35:39 PM1 votes

I am having this problem as well. I think it's the latest Windows 8 update too. Before Patch 5.5, it froze with the latest Windows 8 update. Riot, this has been going on for about a week now. Can you try and make Windows 8 work again ASAP. I wanna play the new Rift item 3070 . Thank you.

Teridax3/15/2015, 11:11:57 PM1 votes

I played 5.5 just fine, but after installing Windows 8.1's last update it began having this problem. I've tried compatibility mode, running as admin, uninstalling and reinstalling... and still the same problem. EDIT: I've also waited for several minutes and nothing happens, it simply remains frozen
