Player left before game started and game continued anyways

we were playing a aram and I spent money on the riot boost for it than the person left the game and it said that he left the room as well and didnt come back and the game started anyways usually when a game starts does it not stop the game from starting? I am only mad because i used riot points on this one game and i never do that so it was kind of disappointing that it would happen.
