Both live and pbe client don't let me logiin and I get this error message

I'm surprised that I don't see that many posts about this error, considering that It doesn't allow me to login no matter how many attempts I make. I get an error message that says: COULD NOT UPDATE "Things are taking longer than expected. You may wait a while longer, or try restarting. Otherwise, please contact riot support and we can work with you to fix this".

I don't think it is a problem on my end rather than the client having actual problems. But when I go to the link in the error message, It doesn't take me to support page that gives me any help about my issue. I can't seriously be the only person encountering this issue. Since it prevents me from logging-in and playing the game I would assume that this affects other players as well. I hope they fix this soon, because I just want to play some league :/

I also don't notice any indications on the server or client status page that shows this being a problem, so idk if it's just me or what

Wait lmao nvm fixed it, reinstall the game but dont uninstall your first patch so it doesnt take long and just repairs it.

fix this garbage. every other day for the past two weeks there has been problems with ping, match making and the client bugging.

Now the client doesnt even open. ffs

Search for Riot Client folder, and just rename it to "Riot Client2" then launch the game. It will work

apparently the reinstall is temporary as it re installs the new client. just wait for riot to fix.

I also had the same issue. Running the Hextech Repair Tool with 'Reinstall' and 'Force Repatch' checked fixed it for me on NA - PBE still is bugged, however. Hoping to hear about a potential fix/solution soon.

Same issue, hapenned on both LIVE and PBE client. So reinstalling LIVE server fixed the issue. However, reinstalling PBE does not fix the issue at all. waiting on solutions.

Lads, if you go where your league of legends is located, Delete the config folder, and restart league, it will start a force repair and bring you to the old client. It should also be a way faster fix than uninstalling.

I WAS ABLE TO LOG IN, no idea how. I just tried and it worked. maybe its fixed?

The client was corrupted for me so I had to delete and re-install the whole thing. It is working fine now.

I had this problem yesterday as well and since there weren't any posts about it yet, I expected it to be my issue alone. Well, sent a ticket but it seems to be a larger thing now.

I figured it out. Go to your League of Legends folder and delete the 2 folders: Log and Config. Restart client. Do again if you have to relog.
