[CLIENT] Issues Patching On Mac

I haven't patched my mac league client in several months (since probably October) because I was using a different computer to play on. I recently (a few days ago) tried to patch my Mac client so I could use it, but when i open the client it displays the League of Legends logo in the middle of the screen for a while, then it disappears and the "LoLLauncher" appears on my dock, but nothing else happens. I have left it like this for a while in case the patcher was being slow to load up, but nothing appears. I deleted my copy of league and redownloaded from the website and tried it that way in case something happened to my client but the same thing keeps happening. Does anyone know what causes this/has anyone fixed this?
