[GAMEPLAY] Blitzcrank's grab doesn't pull completely towards himself sometimes

When playing as Blitzcrank, if an enemy is grabbed there is a slight chance that they will stop half-way as if they are rooted in place during the grab. The same effect can be recreated if Rengar uses a fully stacked Bola on an enemy that is being grabbed, cancelling the grab. The grab still does initial damage and is put on cooldown.

  1. Grab enemy champion with Rocket Grab
  2. There is a ≤ 10% chance of this happening

This happened to me in a private bot game but only on a Garen Bot (twice); this was either last patch or the patch before. It didn't happen for a while until recently (a few minutes ago) in a Normal Draft Mode game, where it happened on the enemy Karthus twice.

I have no photos or videos of this bug since it is a pretty rare one (maybe even ≤ 5%)

I know this is ancient, and personally i've never commented before on these things but since i play a lot of Blitzcrank i feel i should weigh in a bit on this.

Although i've never experienced this in a public match against other players, i have experienced what i've been calling the "Half Pull" dozens of times if not more against the Intermediate bots. Reproducing the effect is not always a success, however it has a small chance of happening every time the enemy bot performs an auto attack or skill and you time your pull to launch while they're casting or mid animation. A successful pull in these scenarios almost always guarantee some serious damage to the bots, however to my dismay i often see the bots stop about halfway through the pull and immediately walk away.

The next scenario i find reproduces the effect more often. Bots have interesting movement patterns, and while walking around under turret and around minions you may get lucky and snag them as they initiate a movement. It's difficult to stop moving and avoid a well timed pull even for bots sometimes, the end result for me is almost always a half pull. This happens many times while baiting the bots towards my own tower, at the last possible moment i often turn to launch my pull before the bots lose interest and walk away. In this moment the bot is still pursuing and can't change direction or avoid the pull because my sudden activation of the skill doesn't leave them enough time to avoid it. However the way the bots are designed makes them automatically dodge certain skill shots when available. This programming is where i believe the error resides. To my knowledge there is no skill or combination or commands, movements, etc that can allow any average champion to negate a successfully initiated pull. That is if the pull lands, you are going to be pulled to Blitzcrank. Though i'm certain skills do exist on some champions to negate this, i'm talking about a recurring phenomenon that i've seen performed by varying bots, at varying lanes, from as early as the first 50 seconds of game play. In conclusion this has to be related to the bots dodge mechanics does it not?

I enjoy the difficulty the Intermediate bots present, they are merciless if you are caught out of position, yet they are still fairly easy to play against and have quite predictable patterns that can make playing against them easy. Yet in the case of certain champions like Blitzcrank, an important skill in his kit is often rendered useless, a half pull does not a kill make. Especially when i'm trying to knock the enemy up under tower, or snag the last survivor for a pentakill. Every time i see a half pull i cringe at the waste of mana, time, effort and calculations on my end. The bots already have insane dodge skills that allow them to avoid skill shots like my pull from fog of war where they have absolutely no business dodging it. Why must they also get the ability to negate the skill when it does land?

I apologize for my rant. It doesn't offer anything useful besides another perspective on a very real issue with the Intermediate bot system. Riot if you're reading this please please please do something about the dreaded "Half Pull" on Blitzcrank.
