Self cast not so self casty

When you use your cast your self cast shortcut, mine is set to shift+ability, and you have your mouse over an ally or an enemy who can receive the ability aswell (e.g. Lulu - E - can target both) the ability will be cast on the ally or enemy instead of yourself.

It's quite frustration have shielded turrets on Janna with shift+E and ulted full health teammates on Lulu because they were in proximity to my mouse. It's the same for items have shift+item 3222 and cleansed a random teammate aswell.

I know there will be a lot of GIT GUD as a reaction to this but selfcast is quite nifty when it works and when you get into the habit of using it this bug really screws with you.

Honestly, this sounds more like an input error than a bug. Either you're mashing both buttons at the same time, and the spell/item cast button is being pressed slightly before Shift, or else you might be releasing Shift slightly before you actually press the spell/item button.

It has a 100% reproduction rate in practise mode. At least on my system.

If i press shift+ability anywhere on the map I self cast. If i do it over a ally dummy or enemy dummy it ignores the self cast and casts on the dummy.

However Shift+item 3222 works properly so you may be right that i just fat fingered that one. (Only have one recollection of that happening)

I just messed around with it, and I think you have the binding set in the wrong place. I was able to reproduce it with Janna's shield and an allied tower when I set SHIFT+E for Spell 3 under "Quick+Self Cast". If I change it to setting SHIFT+E for Spell 3 under "Self Cast", it works perfectly fine, 100% of the time.

It's not exactly clear what the different types of casting really mean. By the name and how they function when testing it, my guess is that "Quick+Self Cast" means that if you hover your mouse over a valid target (allied champion or tower, in the case of Janna's shield) and use that input, it acts as a quick cast to that target. But if the mouse isn't over a valid target and you use that input, it automatically casts on yourself.

That works for me aswell, thanks!

It still seems odd that it works that way.
