I recently played a game with Lux and a teammate of mine got an S, yet I received no chest for her. I have the ability to get one for her and I had only played her 2-3 times as of then, and that was the first one I should’ve gotten.. Am I missing something?

This. Since the new season hasn't technically started yet, Chests are still working off last season.
I.e. if you got a chest last season for Lux you can't earn a new one til the new season starts

well I know some reward stuff isn't going out right, so it is possible that hextech chest rewards got slopped in

greedling1 votesare you sure you have chests up? you can only earn so many chests in a certain time period, check your profile and look at the chest icon under the banner. if the number under it is 0, then you have to wait for your chests to reset.
MissWulfy1 votesYeah, I know how the chest earning system works and there is definitely something wrong. I should’ve gotten a chest for that so it’s pretty frustrating for me, especially since I’m trying real hard to save up for Slyas 😭
