Champion Select Update Ping

Before the new champion select update, my ping was usually at 30 constantly, offering a good gaming experience. After the new champion select update, my ping never went below 130 and would occasionally spike to about 700. While it was at 130, it would sometimes freeze after I would use abilities and then keep going after about 2-3 seconds while minions would keep fighting but every bodies including my health bar would go away while frozen. I would really appreciate it if someone told me how long this would go on for, or how I can fix it.
