Can not reconnect to ongoing game...lets me join new games even though other game is going

Ok so this sounds like a textbook disconnection but its different. I was in a game of ARAM and all of a sudden it hits me with the "attempting to reconnect" and so I wait for a minute. Nothing happens so I close the game window to find my client does not say game in progress, its just sitting at home screen like regular and it lets me join a new game. And I know the game had not ended because we had not even taken first towers yet when I DC. I close the client and reopen...still no tab allowing me to reconnect and it lets me join new game...only problem is is that when I join a new game it wont let me reroll my champions and as soon as the count down hits zero for the game to start it kicks me out of the lobby....I assume this is because somewhere in the league universe my account is sitting afk in a game I cant reconnect to even if I wanted to. Quality software design.
