how do the mastry chests work??

I am having trouble with this....ive gotten several chests, but in the last month or so i have not been able to get any more chests. In the last month i have gotten leo to lvl 6 with 2 lvl 7 tokens, and have yet to get a chest off of her. What i want to know is weather the chests for each champ have cooldowns or if there is a limited number of chests any player can recieve based on the limit of the champions current numbers? Based on that answer leads me to the question of how can a player recieve more chests without getting too many too quickly?

Though i have gotten key fragments, it is still beyond my comprehension on the requirements needed to aquire more of these aswell

1 chest per champion per season. Any S-rank achieved by either you or a member of your premade team will get you a chest for your champion, provided you own them.

Key fragment drops are unrelated to grades. All you have to do is win, and it's a random chance from there. The drop rate decreases for each key fragment you get, but this resets every 4 weeks or so.
