Friends list and team chat not working?

The friends list is almost completely empty and profile pics are blacked out. My friends can see me online and send invites but I am unable to accept them. I also can't connect to team chat before or after a match in the pre and post-game lobbies. Is anyone else having this problem?/Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

I've already tried repairing the client twice and even reinstalled the game onto a different drive on my computer.

Mine is doing the same except the entire right side of the launcher (where your name and friends would be) is completely blacked out. No text or anything there.

Got the same issue for several days. Solved now, after installing Rito client here : https://signup.euw.leagueoflegends.com/en/signup/redownload No need to uninstall, the client will check old install and you'll be able to play 2 min later.

Now the chat is available again. :D

I found the fix. Redownload STRAIGHT from the main website instead.

Just wanted to update everyone on my situation. It is now completely blacked out on the right and I still cannot connect to team chat before or after matches. I sent in a ticket to Riot Support team and they replied. They just said that they have gotten reports of other people having similar issues and offered no solution.

Imagine you have 10 years on this game and still this big of a bug is happening i can't talk in chat i can sorta invite friends but people get mad if you don't speak in ranked (only in lobby it happens)

Is it just me, or has the profile pictures and friends list completely disappeared right now? Almost forgot to mention that the report a bug button has disappeared also. Hopefully this gets resolved soon!

Mines the same. Has been for about 2 months now. Sent in a bug report about 4-5 weeks ago and no fix yet. [zombie-brand-facepalm]

**Hey guys,

I JUST SOLVED THIS SHITTY PROBLEM !!!!!!

Here's how :

1-Sync your time zone put it auto. 2- go the main page of league of legends, download the install app.exe 3- choose different folder to install (create a new folder in desktop and put when you launch the install app put it there) 4-let it install (160MB size) 5- i'll notice afterward that a new launcher pop up, close it. 6- go to the new folder where you put the installation , copy only Lolclient.exe and paste in rito's file (C:\Riot Games ) path. 7- delete the new folder. 8- launch the copied client, wait 2 mins or more, and thank me later. 9- please excuse my poor english.**

My friends list was completely blacked out (just blue, no text at all). I was able to invite a friend to duo ranked by clicking on the "+" icon to add a friend to the game, then type his name and hit enter. He was able to join.

been like this for 2 months now, i have reinstalled league 4 times, and still doesnt change. riot has the time to make new games but cant fix there first one

What worked for me was running the application from the program files as admin. This forced a small update and my client was back in order. This also worked for two of my house mates. Good luck.

That's a temporary chat bug & friends list fix until riot fixes it themselves.

Hi all, alright so I HAD this issue.

K.I.S.S - to fix it force the download of the new login, I downloaded and tried Legends of Runetera and after a relog, my chat and rewards were back.

I hope this will help some of you because I know how frustrating this was to me.

It seems to fix it self if you play a game. It's a weird bug, it fixes it self.

FIX FIX Go into RIOT GAMES Folder. DELETE just RIOT CLIENT folder NOT League of Legends. Once you delete that, go into league of legends folder then click League Client. Do the update and it should work.

This bug is about time sync. If you can't do it from "Date & Time" Sync (it might give an error) try this service LINK. It was the only solution i found to sync time if windows gives error.

Just logged in to bump the fix. As others have stated there seem to be "two" clients..... the old league client and the new Riot Client. People have said to delete the Riot Client folder in the C drive (or which ever drive letter you have the game installed) but if you are like me, I didn't have that folder. If re-installing the game didn't work for you either, here's why:

If you go to C:\Users"yourwindowsaccountnamehere"\AppData\Roaming\League of Legends - you'll see the much talked about "Riot Client" folder there. Delete the whole folder. Then go to C drive or wherever game is installed and launch the league client, it will update the client to the new one.

If your login screen does not look like this your friends list will not work!!!!
