The new ranks arent synched up yet with their proper MMR. They said it will take some time for those things to even out.

It is, but that's pretty much how most of it has been whenever they make larger changes to ranked. Something is gonna get sadly messed up somewhere. Just hope those things will get smoothed out sooner rather than later, since there have been quite a few things off with the new ranks being added.

Accounts that didn't play ranked last season all start at iron 4 0 lp, regardless of their mmr. You could have been rank 1 challenger in season 7 and go 10-0 in your provisional games and you'll still only be like Iron 1.
