cant cast spells by typing the letter of them (like q)

This bug has been annoying me for a pretty long time. I keep thinking riot can fix it but it is driving me crazy. In certain games when i go to click the option screen (the one from which you can exit surr...)nothing happens, that is a bug but not the problem. The problem is that afterwards (for about a minute or so), I can only cast spells by clicking on the image of them. I can not cast them by letter. It is really annoying and I hope riot fixes it.
