Gragas Q not going off. (Gameplay)

So I was just in a game about 5 minutes ago and everything was going fine until at one point I decided to split push since I had teleport. When I got to top lane and began using my abilities to destroy the large minion wave, I noticed my q went on cooldown when I hadn't even use it since I was mid-air with my body slam (E). For some reason I believe the ability became locked since I was spamming it mid-air and I was never able to use the ability again for the rest of the game. Not sure if this happens to everyone but it was a game changing problem which led to my team surrendering after 4 of us died with long respawn timers. Hope this gets looked into.
