any attempt to turn on the league client is met with a "Process already running: we were unable to successfully install while a riot client process is already running. please close all riot client processes and try again." despite there being no other riot or league related processes open at all. I've restarted multiple times, tried it with my antivirus off, and attempted to run as administrator to no avail. hlep me pls
Fixed with the help of Sculblaca.
just deleted the Riot Client folder in the Riot Games folder and I can play again. thanks boys

update: i checked the paths of the processes running when the error message occured. this lead me to an old riot games folder (not in the league installation folder!) which was located on my other hard drive. after deleting the whole folder i could launch league. it opened the old launcher though and is patching as i post this comment. i hope the patching does not currupt the game again!
so long story short, you might wanna look into the paths of the processes that run when the error message pops up. (i also didnt have any lol-processes running beforehand) then check if the path is in your game installation folder - if not, you might wanna delete it.
same problem, hextech repair tool didnt work, clean reinstallation didnt work...dunno what to do
I'm in the same boat as Velasco, I deleted the riot client folder but I just get the "process already running" message when I finish downloading.
if any of yous still have this problem you have to delete everything all riot files and that, and then empty your bin on the computer and then go to reinstall league i had this problem for 3 days and i just got it so yea

THIS IS THE FIX!!!!---------------------- open file explorer and find your riot games folder. delete the 'riot client' folder completely and then empty your bin. once this is done try to open league. if it asks you to choose a file to open or says file directory missing choose me; click choose and go those yours files and find the riot games folder again and open the league of legends folder this times and scroll till you find 'LeagueClient.exe' choose it. and then your done and league will update and fix itself.
sadly you'll have to do this everytime you open the game. i wouldnt close the game if your having this errror
