Can't play with friends

I was playing with my friends yesterday, but I kept lagging. I had to leave the game and restart my Mac every time the lag came. I got at least one lag every game. Most of them happened when I first loaded into the game and I had to exit the game and restart the client. This lag does not occur when I play solo queue. How can I solve this problem?
