Unexpected Error Patch 5.18: games crash after champion select

I updated to patch 5.18 perfectly fine today, without any of the issues many people have been experiencing. I logged into game, without having an issues there. I went to start a solo game; normal draft mode. It took a bit to find a game, as there were many "dodges"- people not accepting the game. Once the game started, I was able to start champion select. We went through champion select, and when the game went to load the splash art for champions; my screen went black and never loaded. I waited about 10 minutes before alt-tabbing, this made a box pop up saying there was an unexpected error. My league client was still up; and said I left a game and I should try to reconnect. I clicked reconnect to game; and I went into the black screen again where nothing happened. I alt-tabbed out, and the same error message came up. I closed my game, restarted my computer and checked the files on my league client. I logged back in, this time without a reconnect to game. I went to start a co-op vs all game just to check what happened. The same issue happened again, in the same exact way. Went through champion select; splash screen went black and never loaded. I have never had an issues with game crashing before; my anti-virus has never had a issue, nor my ports. I can only assume it has something to do with the patch, and I'm not sure what to do. I also do not want these 2 games dropped going towards my leaverbuster.

Would be much appreciated if these lame problems would be fixed permanently! I am currently having this exact same issue now. Even after I went and uninstalled, reinstalled and full updated with the newly downloaded up-to-date installer.

Same thing is occurring for me. I am running on windows 7 64-bit. If anyone knows a fix please update us with a link or information.

same happened but i am in low priority que for 5 games. i am running win 8.1 pro.

i got the black sreen and asked to reconnect but failed multiple times in ranked game,from past experience my lp and leavebuster gonna affected by this...

I wonder what it could be because I have windows 10 and have played 13 games since the update and haven't experienced this nor has my ranked team so I wonder if maybe something wrong with the IP address or a PC issue

I got the same thing going for me running on Windows 10, what sucked is that I played 3 games before that no problem and then this started happening. Now because of the stupid crashes I have 5x 20 minute low priority :( So annoyed by this updates bugs.summoner 3

Same thing, I got black screen and can't do anything in black screen, I have to press " COMMAND+OPTION+ESC" I'm running on iOS I try to reinstall twice, It doesn't work anymore

Same issue here. I played a game and everything worked just fine. Started a game a few minutes after the first and the black screen came up telling me my game has crashed. Not sure what to do or what could be the issue.

Yeah, I'm also currently having this issue (I play on iMac). Played a good 20 games on this patch (5.18) fine, then today it stopped working with these exact same symptoms. One thing to add though - the first time it crashed, it came up with an error message I didn't screenshot :( It said something about corrupt files and also mentioned:

Kha'zix

It was written just like that ^ in amongst the error message, with no apparent context. Kha'zix was one of the champs selected for the game I was about to play. I can't remember for certain, but I think perhaps it would've been the first Kha'zix I'd encountered this patch.

I am 100% certain the original error message mentioned Kha'zix, if that is any help. Hopefully this will be fixed soon, although it seems that most summoners are not affected.

I'm having the same problem today! last night my client was working fine today.... nothing :( the client loads all the way to champion select but after that it doesn't load the game! I'm running on a new Lenovo window 10 desktop. I don't know if its a firewall setting that is blocking access or what but help would be very appreciated. Hope someone finds a solution to our problems thank you, your fellow summoner

hey guys I figured it out turn off you firewall settings and run league of legends. if it load then its a firewall setting. restore your firewall settings to default and then allow access always and hopefully it will work.... and make sure you turn your firewall back on

I can get into games but the client always bugs out every other game at 30-40 minutes. Get stuck in the reconnecting screen. Quit the client. Try to reconnect again get stuck the black loading screen forever...at least until I reset the computer:( 20 minute queues are not fun...

Omg same issue but when I use my brother's computer it works. I can only play league on his computer now but we both have the same computer, macbook pro.

Just wanted to 2nd this. Running on windows 10 and this happened. Not sure what is going on, but I also presume that it is the patch. Anytime I alt tab out it seems to just freeze and go unresponsive.

The same thing is happening to me. After champion select my client loads. I can see my ping and loading parentage. The loading takes forever then eventually it will crash and tack me back to the reconnect screen. IDK what to do. But if some one finds the fix PLZ!!!!! let me know.
