Either Edge of Night's tooltip or functionality isn't accurate
I'm an intelligent player who understands how a new item/rune/effect works by reading the tooltip/description. Yet it took me a while to clock on how to properly use
Edge of Night because its tooltip hasn't been accurate for how it ACTUALLY works since its very inception.
The part of the tooltip that's unclear is the "Night's Veil" active. It only says "taking damage" breaks the channel but there are actually several factors that break the channel: **- Entering combat
- Casting abilities
- Activating other specific items during the channel**
Going into a lil more detail on that last note: activating items like
Ghostblade,
Spellbinder,
Shurelya's, etc. DON'T break the channel.
Activating items like
BOTRK,
Locket,
Redemption,
Zz'Rot,
Twin Shadows, etc. DO break the channel.
Another weird thing is
Protobelt is unactivatable / greyed out during Edge of Night's channel (the other
Hextech Revolver upgrades are fine).
(While we're on the subject of inconsistent / poorly written tooltips, there are many other items/runes/effects/etc. that are the same, e.g.: Ravenous Hunter that miss out key information. Also, some standardisation would be nice.)
What the "Night's Veil" part of the tooltip should say is something along the lines of:
"Channel for 1 second to gain a spell shield that blocks the next enemy ability. Lasts for 7 seconds (40 second cooldown). Can move during the channel but casting abilities, entering combat or using certain active items will break the channel and put this item on a reduced 5 second cooldown."
TL;DR - Fix Edge of Night's TOOLTIP or FUNCTIONALITY.
