Permanent Eggnivia: Skirmisher's Saber?

Just played a game as Anivia. When ganked while eggform passive was up, I died instead of triggering passive. When I respawned, I was Eggnivia for the rest of the game, even after dying a second time. While in permanent eggform, I could still cast spells, but could not autoattack.

Since Eggnivia gets free +20 to both defense stats, this needs to be resolved asap because I gained those stats for free for the rest of the match.

Possible Cause: Skirmisher's Smite? Killers in the gank were Viktor and Xin Zhao, I was smited by Xin and killed. Also attempted to reproduce this with a friend, Anivia vs Xin Zhao, but the smite + auto's sent me in egg form normally.

The new smites that work on champions bypass a lot of stuff. For example, if you get smited with GA passive....your passive gets wasted and you still die.

I think trading basic attacks for 20 mr and armor isn't worth it even if your ap because thats still free damage that you should be using if they get close to you

Did you confirm you were getting the bonus armor and MR? ie, that it was not just a visual bug?

have them kill you with the smite. See if it changes anything. as of right now if Smite kills tryn during ult (assuming the smite has enough damage to do so.

I just had a game of that. Match History. The Pantheon smited me, then killed me while the mark was up (the smite did not get the kill). It put my passive on cooldown but did not have it activate (though I did hear the sound effect).

Autos were disabled, spells still worked. The normal hatching animation (Blackfrost) played on a loop whenever I was idle. Attempting to autoattack resulted in moving to auto range, then stopping and doing nothing (which started the hatch animation). Spells worked. I checked the numbers - did not get the armor/MR changes. When my passive was off cooldown, deaths did trigger it and it worked properly, including the armor/MR changes. Being killed with the smite tag a second time did not fix it.
