I q up for a ranked game and start loading in when my client crashes. I go to restart and continue loading when the client upon opening says: Calculating differences I 3110 Files Scanned. I am going to get a leave on my record, lose LP and possibly be reported. My internet connection is fine and I just played a game five minutes before with no issues. I would very much like to know what is going on and how to fix it.
Patch 5.3 is giving me this bug also.

Same thing happened to me. Ive been fine all day and went to do my promo game it then it decided to kick in. Why is ranked not disabled?

Same thing happening to me! Ever since the new I don't load into most games. It will freeze half way threw and I have to restart my client. AND NO I don't Alt+tab out.
My ranked 5 team is currently playing without me thanks to these issues....thanks rito, so much for getting gold before seasons end.
Also having this issue I reset league to try again which didnt work. I also tried to repair the program and that didnt work either. 1530 files scanned and 33 percent done is what it has said for a while. I will try and uninstal and reinstal and see if that fixes the issue. edit - I tried to uninstal league but the uninstal wizard never popped up and it is no longer in my uninstal programs list so I will try to delete the files related to league edit - So while updating after reinstalling the game it freezes at 86 percent and has 0 kbps from around 2500kbps... now the percent is jumping up with no kbps it has stopped at 99 percent and is not finishing the download I have no other solutions for this issue has anyone else found anything to work? ALright so it took some time but the redownload allows me to launch the game I will now try a game
Yeah this is fubar, my teams 4vs5, while im apparently needing to calculate 'the differences,' 33%.... played fine all previously for hours, kinda... wtf theres nothing to be updated this is bs... theres no need to scan my files wtf is this shit, you would think that with all that revenue you could at least work out flaws like this.... i mean its literally doing nothing by scanning my files... there is nothing that is wrong... except for the fact that i am not in game.
i am outraged i would like to begin negotiation with the prime minister of lol, over my rage. i demand sovereignty from 'calculating the differences'. if my team loses there game, i will personally write a VERY VERY displeased.
update: 13 mins have passed i managed to get in game only to find out that my home village had been burnt to the ground, kinda like in gladiator, just so you know my pain, they even killed our live stock, and emoted me i was watched for the last 1 minute of my game my fellow comrades burn alive, telling me, why xin xao? why have you betrayed us? this scar shall never heal.

I got the same bug. It is calculating my files for the last 30 minutes!! First, it was patching the new update 5.3 until it reach 99%. It was jammed at 99% and restart my client and started to scanning files. RIOT could you pls fixed it. Thanks

Still no red posts on this. They are preforming maintenance but that could mean anything.
I feel bad for the people still grinding rank, this was a known issue with the patch on PBE yet it still made it to live.
How I solved that problem:
You have to delete your filearchive folder which you'll find at C:\Riot Games\League of Legends\RADS\projects\lol_game_client\filearchive.
Your launcher has to be closed in order for it to work. Then simply restart your LoL and it should start updating after a few moments.
Note: This will cause your LoL to update from the very beginning which might take quite some time.

Will also confirm. It did this to me two days ago, and again this morning. It takes a good 20~ minutes for this to go through, and I'm tired of wasting my time waiting for it to verify the entire game for no reason..especially when I work 9+ hours a day..I really don't have time..
5.2 patch forced me to reinstall after several unsuccessful attempts to patch. 5.3 had the whole "stuck at 99%, restart, stuck at 33%, scann every file" thing happen again, but was able to patch. Now i just launched the patcher two days later and am currently at 6.2k files scanned and 30 min approx time spent waiting for this. So frustrating that this happen to constantly. I'd really just like to play without having to worry about this constantly. Report rito.
Dear Riot, Get it right prior to the release and we are happy. Rush a patch out to make your deadline bonus and the community loses.

its happening to me as well. I was able to play all day yesterday but today when I attempted to open league it was at 33 percent scanning files.. has anyone on here had it fix itself by patiently waiting? Not one of these post have said i was able to rejoin the game 13 minutes bc i did something.. so do we just sit and wait it out? anybody know?

My client crashes often from "File Missing" errors (then runs a "repair") as well as calculates differences on almost every startup since 5.3 I've lost a lot of LP, received 2 leaver buster low priority queue penalties, and I probably won't get the summoner icon for not leaving nemesis draft matches. Riot needs a system that doesn't indiscriminately punish for leaving games, maybe they should collect game crash reports or at least give players the ability to send them. ESPECIALLY being that their servers are terrible, and their patches are buggy.

Well it seems i have the same general issue.... except it has been going on for 3 hours and i'm at 22,000 files scanned, I did the patch update and played the game 2 days ago so i don't understand why its happening. I havn't made any changes to LoL folder (or anything for that matter) and havn't downloaded or deleted any software. This is ridiculous and with the amount of money riot gets, they should be able to fix this. I know this is an on-going issue and there is no reason for it to still be happening. Riot shouldnt release a patch if we have to spend 20 min downloading the patch (which is fine) but then spend 3+ hours waiting for the game to calculate differences when there are none.
Finished at 24,500 files, but seriously un-acceptable.

i dont understand I have a similar problem I launch league and it start calculating differences and takes for ever im at 14700 right now and its stil calculating what the heck is it doing? why is it taking so long? why so many files? and this isn't the first time itsdone this and closing and relaunchign just makes it start all over
stop bothering guys... the ones that can actually play, because THEY do not have computer/firewall/internet connections issues are still throwing money at them. They do not (SEEM) to care at all for the "users with problems(but problems only with just this game)".
We, the users, are obviously doing something wrong when THEY make us download a patch.

I've tried reinstalling league and repairing it but it keeps either stopping at 87% with 243 MB to update or it is stuck at 33% and keeps scanning files. This is the Mac client that I'm on and i don't know if its just happening to Macs or not.
Did anyone find a solution to the problem. I see that it's been going on for a while now.
Same exact situation. Randomly disconnected mid-game. Upon attempting to restart, the client starts "calculating differences" and it appears to be patching (even though I've already completed the most recent patch and have played several games on it). Now it's been stuck at 33% for 2 days and I've tried every trick in the book to fix it. Anybody have any new info on this issue? Also, I'm on Mac client and I see others reporting the same. Might be a factor.
EDIT: Literally, the second after I post this, I look at my client and it loads from 33-100% and is up and running now...lol.
same thing happening to me. windows update happened. it sucks but you don't necessarily lose the game. but now it's calculating differences for ages and the game's gonna be over by the time i get back in game.
Right click the shortcut on your desktop and view file location. Here you can use the launcher called lol.launcher.admin. This worked for me I hope that it helps.
