Snow Battle ARURF: Request a disable winter skin map option
During this festive season we have seen quite the number of winter-themed maps, which itself is quite admirable from the efforts of Riot to deliver such a thematic experience. However, I find it both a little strange and disappointing that considerations have not been extended to what potential visibility issues may arise for players with visual impairments and/or colour blindness on these same snow-kissed maps.
To their credit, Riot has addressed this with the regular Summoner's Rift with a 'Disable Snow Textures" option, but to my knowledge this has not been included into the Snow Battle ARURF game mode. While it's understandable that a level of immersion is intended with the occlusion of this option - as mentioned by Stephiroth here (https://boards.pbe.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/bugs/gX3AaFMQ-can-no-longer-disable-snow-map-in-arurf) - it simply overlooks the sheer visibility and playability disadvantages it imparts upon its already visually disadvantaged players. Moreover, Stephiroth notes, "We will monitor feedback about this though." though this seems to be of little consequence given that Snow Battle ARURF is now live with accessibility changes yet to be made. To my knowledge, and I am happy to be corrected, there has been no update on resolving this issue to date. Surprising, given that the option merely be enabled.
Snow Battle ARURF is merely a limited event and as such it's understandable to a point that resolutions to an issue that plague a small number of players may be slow, however I would hope in this festive season that an effort could be made to allow all players, regardless of visual ability, to enjoy and play the same mode equally.
