Alt-tabbing out causes game to freeze then go into a black screen for at least 5 seconds before going back to normal

It's mostly a Windows thing. Since it's full-screen, it renders it independantly instead of along with other windowed apps. So when you tab it, it has to load some things into memory, reload your non-fullscreen things from temp memory and redraw everything. Then tabbing back does it all again. It's horribly inefficient.

Using the Borderless option is optimal. It's like fullscreen, but 300% better.

Know this is late, but if you run LoL in borderless you only get access to 60 Hz, while most people have above that, so it's not 300% better with borderless.

Try Alt-Esc instead. Seems to work for me.

Same thing happens exactly to me since a few weeks ago.

It is not something that happens ingame, it is something related with the client.

I already play in borderless mode and when I switch between windows everything is ok... BUT if I do it with the client everytime I change the focus to another window the screen turns black for a few seconds. It is really annoying.

I do not know if it has something to do with the OS or the GPU (my PC is abouit 2 months old, GTX 1070 and so) but I really want to fix this issue.

¿Does anyone know how to solve it?

BTW, Alt-Esc does not solve the issue for me

Finally fixed it! OMG I am so relieved right now.

To fix it I only had to run the LoL client in Windows 8 compatibility mode (Windows Troubleshooting tool fixed it for me actually).

To set this configuration you only need to right click on the LoL client, then on Compatibility tab and (in Compatibility mode section) check Run this program in compatibility mode for: and in combo box below the checkbox select Windows 8.

PS: It seems I needed to post my problem to actually fix it by myself
