Just played a game in team builder with a lux on the enemy team. Whenever she would launch her w the actual skill was invisible and only the aura was visible. The aura by itself is hard to see and it made it very difficult to avoid.
I was in this game, and it happened to me too.

I was in this game as well and can confirm that only the aura was able to be seen. The aura is very difficult to spot when in mid team fight and even more difficult to avoid
Lux W is her prismatic barrier... the shield. You mean her E, Lucent Singularity... the thing that explodes?
I just got out of a game with a Lux on the enemy team and can confirm her E being invisible, with nothing but the imploding light effect; which is extremely hard to notice.
Yeah this just happened it me as well. There was no projectile, or aura for myself. I could see her casting animation though. But it was definitely doing damage!!
I just a game where I had a similar issue with the enemy Lux E. I could see the cast animation, but both the projectile and the area-of-effect aura were invisible. It was still fully effective - it slowed and did damage - but it was quite difficult to dodge only having the cast animation to go by.
