Fizz Q and Jayce E Interaction

First off, my apologies if this wastes someone's time because I don't know how the game works. But I was playing top lane Fizz against a Jayce today, and whenever I would q behind him, he would e me immediately after. This would then knock be backwards, past Jayce, and to where I was BEFORE I q'd him.
