Trundle health from new dragon?

So I noticed that the updates to dragon has caused Trundle to not heal at all when he dies. Is it intentional that the new dragon doesn't really "die" but just poofs so Trundle doesn't get health, or is that something overlooked? I used to use that final kill blow to help me in teamfights around the objectives and it sucks not to be able to rely on that for dragon anymore.
