So I assume this is a bug, because it makes no sense to me. As you can see in the replay, I flashed out at the very last moment and still took the hit. You can see the auto-attack symbol and the 201 dmg dealt pop up, even though I am clearly not in range.

Is that to be expected? can I not flash out of range of a melee attack?

Is this some meme I'm not getting?

Refers to "Spaghetti Code". There was a period of time when League of Legends had so many bugs in it that players just assumed half the code was actually spaghetti.

You can flash out of melee range, but you cannot flash a melee attack. Xin's attack animation was already going, so flashing doesn't mean it won't hit.

So this is normal huh? it still kinda makes no sense to me but at least now I know, thx.

Yeah, I think this is intended. It's happened to me before and people told me that it's normal.

just reinforcing that this is normal for melee attacks. It sucks and I've always hated it, but hey If a Marksman bullet can change direction in air, why can't a melee character hit out of range? Right? I guess?

This is normal, once an attack has already been initiated it cannot be dodged with movement abilities.

The same thing can be seen more easily with ranged attacks (but works the same for attacks with any range, including melee), if the shot is already being fired it doesn't matter if you flash out of the initial range or teleport halfway across the map, it will still hit you.

It is rather annoying to waste flash like this, thinking that you are doing it at the last moment but being stuck and killed anyway (something I have done myself quite often), but it is just a lesson I suppose to not be too greedy with your resources.
